Ban Jian Kuih

Ban Jian Kuih is a local street food which is like a big fluffy pancake with peanut and sweet corn filling. When I came across the recipe on the web, I was excited to try my hand at making this popular snack. It turned out okay. It was a bit hard and a little too sweet, but overall not too bad.

  1. Ooh! My absolute favourite snack that's been hunted into extinction in the Klang Valley by those Thuggee cult rejects, I mean local council enforcement officers. Seriously ... it's sooo hard to find this nowadays around the places I live and/or frequent.

There was a stall in Sunway Pyramid 2 near Jusco that used to sell this but after a while they stopped selling this and concentrated only on the wafer-thin appam balik. Nowhere near as nice.

Glad you're trying your hand at it ... any chance of a sample?

  2. Definitely! Though getting the professional made ones would be infinitely better

  3. I wonder if I use a smaller pan and with much lesser batter, it would yield the thin version.
